Dear Mr.
Clive Davis:
Thank you; thank you so much for this opportunity!
When I received your letter, a tear
rolled down my cheek and my heart warmed with happiness
as I realized that I had finally
gotten a chance to show my talent to someone at the
very top of the music business.
I'm enclosing a CD that
I made within the last couple of weeks entitled "Daddy's
Christmas Songs." I made it mostly for my family
and friends, knowing full well that I
would send you a copy for review as well.
I have always dreamed about creating a CD of Christmas
carols. This is a very simple
effort, not much more than the piano/voice demo you
asked for, and since it is available
right now, I thought I would send it along in response
to your invitation.
In making it, I certainly
learned a lot about cutting and marketing a CD.
The title, "Daddy's Christmas Songs," is
mine, as well as most of the cover design and the
website, www.daddyschristmassongs.com
I will be thrilled to
receive your appraisal. As I mentioned in my previous
letter to you, I'm not expecting to be the next
Barry Manilow, but I believe I could become a
profitable performer. Maybe I'll even get to perform
a song on one of the final "American
Idol" shows of the upcoming season.
My personal favorite
on the enclosed CD is "Do
You See What I See," but of course my
daughter's solo of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little
Star" has the biggest place in my heart.
She is 3 1/2 years old now. Maybe she'll be inspired
to become a singer, too. And by the
way, and I know you meant this light-heartedly, I
didn't raid Arista's educational fund
to make the CD. That fund is all taken care of and
I wouldn't touch it for anything,
Once more I thank you so much for your invitation
and for making time for me. I know how
busy you must be, and I can't tell you how much I
appreciate your willingness to give me
a chance. Whatever your verdict on the CD, I'll always
remember the kindness you have
shown me.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you, and I wish
you a wonderful Merry Christmas and
Happy Holidays.
Sincerely,
Steve Mozena
